Obituary

Bob G. Harrell, age 90, a resident of Cantonment, FL, passed away on February 25, 2025.

Bob was born on April 9, 1934 in East Prairie, Mo to Phines Harrell and Ellen Bailey Harrell. His family later moved to St. Louis where he met and married the love of his life, Jeannette Reith. They had two children and enjoyed 53 blessed years together before she passed away in 2006.

Bob moved his family to Greenwood, MS in 1973 via a job transfer with Medart Locker Company. In 1988, he accepted the position of V.P. of Manufacturing at Viking Range and led the setting up of the first Viking manufacturing plant in Greenwood, where he worked until his retirement. Bob was a deep thinker, a talented mechanical engineer and a gifted inventor with many patents to his credit, including the first newspaper vending machine to dispense one paper at a time and the first gas convection-radiant heated oven. He had a quick wit and enjoyed making people laugh. He also enjoyed tennis, oil and watercolor painting, and woodworking. He had an active mind that thrived on problem solving the next project and he never gave up until he found the solution.

In 2023, he moved to Pensacola, Florida with his daughter, and on February 25, 2025, he left this world to join his beloved wife.

Bob is survived by his children, Karen Harrell Fratesi (Phil Deaton) and Robert M. Harrell (Pat); his grandchildren, Aubrey O.(Lanny) Fratesi, II, Juliana Harrell Sauberlich (Brad), and Jeana Harrell Hector (Ryan), and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows East Cemetery on Hwy 82 in Greenwood, MS on a date and time to be set later.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association www.act.alz.org or to St. Jude Children's hospital www.stjude.org

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the therapists at Action Therapy Group of Pensacola who not only worked tirelessly with him every day, but supported, encouraged, and befriended him. Thanks also go to the staff of Sodalis Senior Living who cared for him during the last couple of years and to Vitas Hospice who treated him with amazing love and respect during his final days.
