Obituary

Bobbie Ann Burns passed away on July 24, 2017 at Covenant Hospice after a brief illness. She was 88.

Bobbie was born in Pensacola on August 16, 1928 to William H. and Bessie M. Johnson. She graduated from Pensacola High School and Florida State University. She worked for the State of Florida Comptroller's office in Pensacola prior to starting her family and becoming a fulltime homemaker.

Bobbie married Carl Burns in Pensacola on May 17, 1958. They lived in Peoria, Illinois for several years before retiring and returning to Pensacola. Bobbie loved helping others. In Peoria, she was a room mother and scout leader for her daughters as well as transportation chairman for the American Cancer Society. In Pensacola, she volunteered for many years at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Christine McAfee and her youngest daughter, Margaret Burns.

She is survived by her husband, Carl and daughter, Becky Burns, both of Pensacola.

The family would like to invite friends to an open house on what would have been Bobbie's 89 th birthday on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Please join us at 5558 Homewood Drive, Pensacola, FL, 32504 between 5:30 and 7:30 pm.

The family wishes to thank the Progressive Care Unit staff at Sacred Heart Hospital, the staff and volunteers at Covenant Hospice and the many people who have kept them in their prayers.
