Obituary

Born November 12, 1948, Bonnie Hinote Hancock Goodson, 68, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 after a 14 year fight against cancer.

Bonnie was born and raised in the only place she ever wanted to be, Pensacola, FL. She truly felt it was paradise. The beach was her serenity and her refuge. She attended Escambia High School (Class of 67') and later graduated from PJC Cosmetology School. She was owner/operator of several local salons. After she retired, people begged her to come back as no one had ever cut/styled their hair better before or since Bonnie.

At 18, Bonnie married C.W. (Wayne) Hancock and within three years became a mother to all three of her children who were her pride and joy. She loved to make certain they were always clean and their clothes ironed. She was the one to make sure that her children participated in activities and even though she worked up to three jobs at a time, she always made sure they made it to practice and games and had the latest styles to wear and for the girls-good makeup was a must!

She volunteered for many years with duties to help the football and cheerleading programs at Bellview Ball Park and just loved concession duty (not really-that is a joke).

Bonnie was very active in the late 80's and early 90's in Daughters of the Nile and in 1988 was appointed Queen for Shimron Temple No. 133. At that time, she was the youngest queen to ever be appointed to the prestigious position.

Her children all grew up to have families of their own and the three of them gave her seven more of her greatest gifts and joy. Bonnie/Mama became known to one and all as Nana. Everyone that met her called her Nana and those seven loves of her life brought many friends into her life that she loved, cared for, and kept many secrets for. Nana was the best at secret keeping.

Nana became a single woman in 1993 and for ten years she enjoyed a life of freedom, fun, friends and line dancing-she certainly loved her friends-all of you-anyone that touched her life. You gave her some wonderful memories. Thank you for that.

In 2003, Bonnie married her best friend and her love, Tim Goodson, who brought three children of his own into her circle. (William, Savannah and Hannah).

Later in 2003, Bonnie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer-she bravely battled this invasive disease and won! She spent the next ten years semi-free of health worries doing anything and everything for others, from picking up kids from school, to attending grandchildren's sporting events, church events, graduations, birthday parties and any dinner date or request for her presence-and at all family gatherings where her Banana Pudding was demanded! She lived for those moments and loved nothing more than to be with her family. She had a true servant's heart and never said "No".

In 2013, despite regular mammograms, Nana was diagnosed with a different form of Breast Cancer that had already metastasized to her spine. Again, she fought a hard battle and the cancer was eradicated from her breast. For two years the enemy was held back. In late December 2016 Bonnie received the news that the breast cancer had metastasized to many other organs in her body. This time the enemy thought it had finally beat her but Nana had a secret weapon close to her heart and is today victorious in the presence of Jesus. She is the real winner.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Tim Goodson; her mother, Pauline Hinote of Pensacola; her daughter, Tammy Davies (Robert) of Gulf Breeze; her son, Bo Hancock (Heidi) of Milton; her daughter, Amy Danforth (Dan) of Pensacola; her seven grandchildren, Cameron Adams (Kayla) of Milton, Travis Hancock (Kendra) of Milton, Colin Davies of Panama City, FL, Jordan Smith of Ft. Bragg, NC, Cameron Davies of Gulf Breeze, Chase Smith of Sheppard AFB, TX and Hank Hancock of Milton; four beautiful great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Nathan Hancock, Joshua Waylon and Kinsley Adams; her special nephew, Brad Hinote of Denver, NC; her sisters-in-law, Donna Hinote of Vernon, FL and Leann Hinote of Charlotte, NC as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father; Levern Hinote and her brothers, Bill Hinote and Marty Hinote.

Bonnie's favorite worship song is "Go Light Your World" and she lived that as her mission in life, her purpose and her will. She lit so many candles, her world was never dark. In honor of Bonnie-please take that mission up and go light your world.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Alejandro Inclan; nurse, Lindsay McCormick and the entire staff at The Woodlands. You gave Bonnie the love, dignity, care and the best of all of you for 14 years, but more importantly you gave "us" 14 more years with her. How can a Thank You ever be enough?
Bonnie/Mama/Nana, you will be missed more than our hearts can stand.
