Leonard Bradshaw "Brad" Southerland, Jr., 79, of Pensacola passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Leonard was born in Pensacola on January 24, 1933 and graduated from Pensacola High School. He attended Bullis Prep School and then graduated from Florida State University. He worked for American Fidelity Life Insurance Co. for 51 years retiring as a Vice President. "Brad" was a Past Commodore of the Pensacola Yacht Club, was a Knight in the Fiesta Court in 1971 and a past member of the Krew of Lafitte. "Brad" was preceded in death by his father, Rear Admiral L. B. "Sheik" Southerland and his mother, Dorothy Henning Southerland. He is survived by his wife, Ann Phillips Southerland of Pensacola; daughter, Cindy S. Eade (Dale) of Marianna, FL; son, Leonard Bradshaw "Sandy" Southerland, III (Melissa) of Pensacola; brother, Michael Stephen Southerland of Guatemala City, Guatemala; grandchildren, Meghan E. Austin (Brad) of Marianna, FL, Lauren E. O'Bryan (Zach) of Eastman, GA, Leonard Bradshaw "Shaw" Southerland, Ryann C. Southerland, Beau E. Buck and Annie E. Buck all of Pensacola, FL; a great granddaughter, Emma Grace Austin of Marianna, FL. Visitation will be held at 8:30am on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 with services beginning at 9:30am at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Dr. Don Eade officiating. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Dale Eade, Brad Austin, Phil Phillips, L. B. "Shaw" Southerland, Beau Buck and Jeff Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Phillips, Jack Phillips, Joe Phillips, Jack Yancey and R. E. "Doc" Mauch. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504. The family gives Special thanks to the Covenant Hospice Inpatient and Palliative Care Center at West Florida Hospital.
