Obituary

Bradley "Brad" Peterson passed away at his home in Pensacola, FL on April 14, 2016, surrounded by his beloved family. Brad was born November 12, 1950 in Valley City, ND to Irma and Reynold Peterson.

He attended elementary school in Hastings, ND. When the family moved to nearby Litchville, ND Brad entered 7th grade and graduated as Valedictorian of his high school class in 1968. He went on to the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks where he graduated with a BS in Physics and Mathematics in 1972. In 1977 he completed two Master's degrees at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in Physics Education and Counseling Psychology.

He was married to Diane Miedema on August 14, 1971. They had two children: Sean Brendan (b.January 25, 1979) and Darya Larisse (b.September 25, 1984).

His career in consulting began in 1977 in Tehran, Iran where Brad was employed by EDS (Electronic Data Systems). He and Diane left Iran for Kuwait in late 1978 as the Iranian Revolution became increasingly strident. In late 1979 they returned to the U.S. and settled in Newtown, CT when Brad joined a small consulting firm based in Wilton. From 1986-1988 Brad was employed by CSX Railroad in Baltimore, MD. Then in 1988 he joined HSB (Hartford Steam Boiler & Inspection Co.) in Hartford, CT. He went on to Anderson Consulting before founding Strategic Asset Management Inc (SAMI) in 1996. SAMI grew to have an international presence with Brad traveling around the world several times each year to oversee projects and to meet with prospective clients. He was Chair of the Board at the time of his passing.

Brad and Diane moved to Pensacola in 2008 where he developed a passion for opera. He joined the Board of the Opera in 2009, acting as Development Chair until his death. He was always curious about the world around him and delighted in having 'google' in his pocket. He loved camping, wood working, travel, reading and, above all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; his daughter, Darya Glass and his son-in-law, Matthew Glass of Santa Fe, NM; and his sister, Denise Peterson of Fargo, ND.

He was preceded in death by his son; his sister, Paulette; and his parents.
