Brian John "BJ" Barton, 71, of Cantonment, FL passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
Brian was born in New Hyde Park, NY on January 14, 1947. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1965, after which he was employed as a Helicopter Mechanic at Naval Air Station Pensacola. In 1976 Brian was employed with the Pensacola Police Department where he worked in several areas for the next 25 years. He started out as a Patrolman, then on to the Narcotics Unit, Investigations, ultimately retiring as a motorcycle officer in the Traffic Division. He was also known as the computer "Go to Guy". During his career with the police department he attended many training schools and honed his skills. Brian's dedication to duty earned him the "Bronze Cross" meritorious service award, several Letters of Commendation and many other decorations he earned for his outstanding police service.
After retirement, Brian started a private investigation business working with many of the personal injury law attorneys in Pensacola and surrounding areas. He participated in reconstructing motor vehicle accidents. This was Brian's expertise, he dearly loved the challenge of it.
Bryan loved playing golf, so much that he taught his grandson Wayne. These skills earned Wayne the Divot Derby Award. He also enjoyed fishing on the river and entering in tournaments with his friend Terry. The thing he enjoyed most was to be in front of his computer figuring out just how a motor vehicle accident happened.
