IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bridget Mary
Hartig
January 28, 1939 – November 7, 2017
Bridget Mary Hartig (née Brennan), 78, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully at 2:45am, on November 7, 2017, at Summer Vista Assisted Living where she resided the past one-and-a-half years. She was surrounded by loving family.
Born on January 28, 1939, Bridget was the first of four children born to Irish immigrant parents. She would attend Sacred Heart High School in Elizabeth, NJ, graduating with her class in 1957.
Around this time, she met her future husband, Richard, on a blind date before he was set to serve his country in the Coast Guard. In 1961, upon his honorable discharge from military service, Richard and Bridget were married. Their happy union and devotion to one another lasted an inspiring 52 years – across two countries and five cities, culminating in the last 35 years spent in Pensacola – before Richard passed in 2013. Throughout their marriage, Bridget was a loyal parishioner of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, a longtime resident of Cordova Park, a dependable neighbor, and a devoted homemaker. After raising her five children, she went on to work as a sales manager at Gayfers and McRae's department stores in the 1980s and '90s.
Bridget will be remembered for her humility, graciousness, devoutness in her Catholic faith, and her selflessness in devotion to her friends and, especially, family. Everyone with whom she came into contact remarked on the beauty of her contagious and ever-present smile, her positive outlook on life, and her unshakeable devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Bridget leaves behind two brothers, Richard Brennan (Joanne), and Fr. James Brennan, and a sister-in-law, Joanie (Beale) Brennan; five children, Richard, Jr. (Kate), Brian (Arthur), Sean (Gina), Meghan, and Erin; and six grandchildren, Fallon, Bridget, Chloe, Richard Max, Devin and Colleen. She has been preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bridget (Bonner) Brennan, her brother, Bernard Brennan, and her husband, Richard.
Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Bridget at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 3121 Hyde Park Rd., on Monday, November 13, 2017, with a viewing from 11:30am until the Funeral Mass to begin at 12:30pm. A procession to Barrancas National Cemetery will follow, where she will be interred with her husband, Richard. After burial services, a repast will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hydrocephalous Association (www.hydroassoc.org) or the March of Dimes (www.marchofdimes.org) in memory of Bridget Hartig.
"…until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
