Bryan Mac Grubbs, 100, native of Pensacola, FL passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, peacefully in his home from natural causes. Bryan was born April 25, 1924. He was the son of Lawrence E and Brunella Laughton Grubbs of Pensacola, FL. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by, his loving wife, Helen W. Grubbs; brothers, Lewis E. Grubbs and Leroy E. "Earl" Grubbs; as well as his granddaughter, Angela K. Braswell.
Bryan graduated from Pensacola High School; he then went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army during WWII. After he had finished his service, he returned home to Pensacola. He worked at NAS where he met the love of his life, Helen. Bryan and Helen married on Feb. 14, 1948. They had a daughter Marsha. He later worked for Gulf Power and retired after 40 years. Bryan loved freshwater and saltwater fishing. He could cast his mullet net like the best of them. He often had gardens but was very proud of his fruit trees and flowering bushes he started by propagating. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Masons for 71 years as well as a member of the American Legion for 45 years. Bryan was known for talking about his time serving our country and numerous fishing stories. He never met a stranger. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include, his daughter, Marsha Elaine Grubbs, of Pensacola; his grandson, Jerry Steven Kirby, II (Shawna), of Orange Beach, AL; great grandchildren, Grant, Bradie, Julia and Natalie Kirby, all of Orange Beach, AL; a nephew, Lawrence Grubbs.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm until a Funeral Service to begin at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Minister Bob Bowman officiating. A committal service will follow at Bayview Memorial Park with military honors being accorded the US Army.
Active pallbearers will be as follows, Jerry Kirby, II, Kenneth Braswell, Terry Knight, Kenneth Boswell, Joe Salome, and Grant Kirby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, donations taken on the website http://woundedwarriorproject.org or call 877-832-6997.
