Bryan Scott Maestas, age 40, went home to the Lord on Monday, August 28, 2023, in Pensacola, FL.

Bryan was born August 4, 1983, in Canon City, CO, to Gary and Cathy (Gwinnup) Maestas. He joined the United States Army after graduating from Canon City High School in 2001. Bryan served in the infantry, two tours in Iraq, and specialized as a scout sniper with the 1st Cavalry Division. He deeply cared for our country and served it proudly. After being Honorably discharged from the United States Army, Bryan returned to Canon City to make his home and to continue his education where he received his associate degree in nursing.

Bryan and Kayla raised their 3 sons in Canon City, CO until 2022, they then moved to Pensacola, FL to enjoy a warmer climate and beach life. He was a talented artist and enjoyed being out on the water. He had a strong Christian belief and led his family to love our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Bryan is survived by his wife, Kayla (Dunn) Maestas and their three sons, Cayden Scott, Eli Allen, and Isaac James Maestas; his parents, Gary and Cathy Maestas; his brothers and their families, Steven (April) Maestas, of Omaha, NE, and Anthony (Caroline) Chavez, of Colorado Springs, CO; grandmother, Lou Gallegos, of Colorado Springs, CO; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews who loved him dearly on all sides of his family.

Bryan is preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Maestas; grandfather, Sam Maestas; grandmother, Marthena Garcia; grandfather, Paul Gwinnup, as well as several aunts and uncles.

A graveside service will be held 2:00pm Friday, September 8, 2023, at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the US Army. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 1:00pm to go together to the cemetery in police procession.
