IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bunker
Power
March 13, 1984 – October 19, 2022
Daniel E. "Bunker" Power, IV, 38, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep of a heart attack on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
Bunker was born on March 13, 1984, in Nashville, TN and had a happy childhood there. The Power family moved to Greenwich, CT, where Bunker attended Eagle Hill School. There, he formed a student organization for those in the boarding school. At graduation, he gave the valedictorian speech and received the school's highest award. At age 17, his family moved to Pace, FL, and he entered Pace High School. Bunker's play, The Last Radio Show, won the 2003 Florida high school theater competition, and the International Thespian Society honored him for superior playwriting. This earned him a six week-long trip to China where he spent his travel money helping those in need and freeing animals. As a writer, he spent the last Indian summer of his life finishing two novels of the many he had written: "A Chair for Ester" and "Someday Never Comes." His books will be published as he wished. Bunker was an impressionist who could portray over 50 characters in song and speech including Elvis, Jack and Bobby Kennedy, Michael Caine, even Katharine Hepburn. Bunker was a friend to everyone including those who had no other friends. He was kindhearted and was truly an amazing person with depths most cannot even imagine. We always admired his poetic point of view. His words were precise and fueled by his creative spirit. He was a vigilant romantic and the world wasn't ready for him. I feel like he was the missing piece to a beautiful puzzle we are all trying to figure out. Pensacola will sorely miss his giving spirit and his creative mind. His unexpected death leaves a hole in the hearts of his family and friends, Danica Dvorak, Gabe, and Cole. He was Loved!
"The past is never dead. It's not even past." William Faulkner
He is preceded in death by his mother, Madelaine Landis Power.
Survivors include his father, Daniel Edward Power, III and brother, Andrew Landis Power.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Christ Episcopal Church, 18 W. Wright St., Pensacola, FL, with Dr. Michael Hoffman officiating.
