Burton E. Strubhar, age 69, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Centerville, IA on April 20, 1944 to Lester and Elda Strubhar. A graduate of Esterville High School in IA, Burt attended Texas Christian University and the University of Arkansas before graduating and receiving his law degree from Tulsa University in 1969. After he graduated from law school, he proudly served as a Judge Advocate in the U. S. Army. Burt began his career as an attorney in Pensacola with the office of the Public Defender, before working in private practice for almost 40 years. For the last four years of his career he once again worked for the Public Defender. Burt is survived by his loving wife, Pamela; children, Keith (Leanne) of McLean, VA, Jason (Lindsay) of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Holly (Brian) Pitts of Pensacola, FL, Taylor of Corvalis, OR; and brother Richard (Reta) of Piedmont, OK. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cole, Pierce, Alden and Ashton Strubhar; Madison and Jack Strubhar; Hunter Johnson and Carter Pitts; and Elijah Strubhar. Burt had a kind and gentle spirit, and loved his family, who will miss him. He was a longtime member of Resurrection Lutheran Church where he served on many boards and committees. Visitation will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 6305 Blue Angel Pkwy., Pensacola, FL 32526 with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00pm. Pastor David Robatzen will officiate. A private family committal service will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church.
