Obituary

Cameron McLaughlin died Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Pensacola, FL.

She was born on March 19, 1958, in Pensacola, daughter of Henry Elwood McLaughlin, Sr. and Barbara Katherine Parker. She was the loving wife and devoted companion of husband Michael Eric Geusz for 33 years. Cameron was keenly interested in the wellbeing of others, particularly the disadvantaged, and protection of the natural world and its inhabitants. She was passionate about writing, plant-based culinary arts, animal nurturing, classical music, weaving, textiles, and beauty in general. Cameron was engaged in local politics and was an advocate of freedom. She completed her bachelor's degree in philosophy and master's degree in library science at Vanderbilt University where she provided her librarian talents to students, professors, and the public in both the Science Library and the Law Library. She played piano with local musicians, worked with choirs, and was a writer and editor for magazines and companies in Nashville, TN for several years. She then fostered scientific discoveries at the University of Virginia through her editing and enhancement of many scientific research grant proposals and publications that enabled the progress of numerous researchers in biology, psychology, and medicine. Traveling in natural areas and cities throughout America and walks along beaches and in the Tennessee wilderness, Shenandoah Valley, and Blue Ridge Mountains with her husband was a frequent source of enrichment and happiness. She also found much fulfillment through her animal rescue projects.

Cameron is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, J. Lynn Golden (Barbara); and her brothers, Henry Elwood "Woody" McLaughlin, Jr. (Elinor "Pookie"), Robert Golden, and Richard Golden.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Eric Geusz and loving older sisters, Lynn Carr, Bradley "Lee" Gewin (Jimmy), Kathleen Teegarden (Bonnard), and Miranda Schneider; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
