Camille Smith Garrett, 74, of Lillian, AL, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019.

Camille was born on June 24, 1945 in Decatur, GA. She grew up in Jacksonville, FL and is a graduate of Birmingham Southern College. As a student at BSC she was president of the Baptist Student Union and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. While attending BSC she met and eventually married her husband of 51 years, the Honorable James S. Garrett. Camille retired after more than 20 years of teaching in the Vestavia Hills City School system and has resided in Lillian, AL for three years. Camille was a member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola and a member of one of their Sunday School classes. Camille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Camille was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Mary Nell Smith.

She is survived by her husband, James S. Garrett; daughters, Mary Catherine Shaw (Auston) and Debbie Lawrence (Marcus); sister, Connie Lee; grandchildren, Hannah Shaw, Ivy Grace Shaw, Carter Shaw, Jake Lawrence and Will Lawrence.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Pleitz Chapel at First Baptist Church of Pensacola with the funeral service following at 1:00 pm. There will be a private family burial immediately following the service.

She had a life well lived, compassion for others and love of family.
