Carolyn Haley Mueller, 88, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
Carolyn was born in Dayton, OH on July 3, 1935, to Mary (Geis) and William Phillip Haley. She attended Julienne Catholic High School and received a bachelor's degree from University of Dayton where she was a UD Flyerette and majored in Education. She married her college sweetheart upon graduation in 1957. She focused her education degree on her family, the beneficiaries of her love for knowledge. The family moved from Cincinnati to Dayton, OH in 1964, and to Pensacola, FL in 1974. She spent years serving the community as a substitute teacher, school volunteer, school board liaison, and Elections Poll Worker. Her delights were needlework, playing bridge, spending quality time with friends, and traveling abroad. Her passion was her faith. Carolyn was an active communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church, serving as a lector, Extraordinary Minister and Hospital Chaplain at West Florida Hospital for over 30 years. She was involved with the charismatic movement, Cursillo, and innumerable prayer groups. Her heart was her family. Her husband was her rock, and her children and grandchildren were her joy. She moved to Savannah, GA in 2019 due to declining health and continued collecting friends, bridge partners, and prayer warriors.
Carolyn is preceded by her husband of 50 years, James "Jim" Mueller; her parents, Dr. William Phillip and Mary Geis Haley; and her brother, Joseph.
She is survived by her loving children, James Mueller. Jr. (Karen) of Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Kathleen Griffis (Drew) of Houston, TX, Robert Mueller (Patty) of Manassas, VA, and Molly Mahoney (Tom) of Savannah, GA; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; her dear sister, Bette Ann Haley Lienesch; as well as countless friends.
Visitation will be held 10:00am until a Memorial Mass begins at 11:00am, Monday, July 8, 2024, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Stephen Olson celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd., Pensacola, FL 32503 or the charity of your choice.
