Carolyn Carter Parker, 95, of Pensacola, FL passed away on May 16, 2013. She was born in Hartford, AL and grew up in Troy. After graduating from Troy State Teachers College, Carolyn taught school in Fort Deposit, AL. In 1951 she and her family moved from Troy to Griffin, GA. Carolyn was devoted to the First Baptist Church of Griffin as a member and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and serving on the diaconate for 10 years. She also was a homemaker and an active member of the Dogwood Garden Club and the Griffin Book Club. In 2006 she moved to Pensacola where she resided at Wesley Haven Villas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Lehman Carter and Carrie McBryde Carter, and by her husband, C.T. Parker. Survivors include a son, Robert A. (Sue) Parker of Clarkesville, GA; a daughter, Carol Ross of Pensacola, FL; two grandsons, Robert C. (Michelle) Parker of Aurora, IL and David M. Parker of Clarkesville, GA; four great-grandchildren, Will Parker and Anna Parker of Aurora and Maison Parker and Ramsay Parker of Toccoa, GA. Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 3PM at the First Baptist Church of Griffin, GA with Dr. Bruce Morgan officiating. A reception will follow in the Welcome Center.
