Carolyn "Jean" Pounders

1931-2018

Carolyn "Jean" Pounders, 86 of Pensacola, FL passed away Friday, June 1, 2018.

Jean was born on August 13, 1931 in Rome, GA to J. W. and Elizabeth (Rheinhardt) Barton. She was raised in Dalton, GA. She was married to Billy R. Pounders for 68 years until his passing on December 1, 2017. Together they raised five children. Jean faithfully supported her husband which included moving seven different times.

Mr. & Mrs. Pounders loved to travel all over the country and many parts of the world. They also loved fourteen cruises. Together they had so many wonderful memories of their great adventures. Jean also had a great love for the PGA traveling to many tournaments throughout the US and around the world. You knew if you came to visit on Sunday you had to be very quiet on Sunday afternoon! Besides golf Jean enjoyed bowling and golfing herself.

Her legacy will be her great love for her husband, Billy, her children and family. She was the best mom anyone could ask for, and we will be forever grateful for the lessons she taught us, like love, compassion, generosity and kindness. We all find our comfort knowing she is in the house of the Lord.

Jean was preceded in death by her, parents, her husband, Billy R. Pounders, and son, Randy.

Survivors include her children, Ric, Mickey (Rosie), Kim Brown, Tim (Jill). They were also blessed with 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; her sister Shirley Harris; two nieces and a nephew.

Visitation will be 2:00pm until the Funeral Service at 3:00pm Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Eric Miracle officiating.

She will be buried next to her husband Billy at Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family kindly request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Covenant Care Hospice, 5041 N. 12 ^th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504. It is amazing the kindness and compassion, but most of all the loving care they extended not only to our mother but also to our family.

We wish to extend our love and gratitude to mom and dad's friend and loving caregiver, Trudye Copa and also thank you to caregiver, Christine Decker.
