Diane Norris went to Heaven on October 31, 2017.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Norris; their daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Sheldon Bernau and their two children, Diana Bernau and Benjamin Bernau; their son, Mark Norris and his daughter, Grace Norris; two brothers and two sisters and their families.

Diane was born November 7, 1944, in Athens, GA, to D.H. and Josephine Jones. She attended Pensacola Junior College, Samford University, and Florida State University, where she received a BA degree in Education. She taught Civics at Brentwood Middle School for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

Diane grew up attending East Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola for the past thirty nine years. She was active in the Dorothy Maddox Women on Mission Group and worked with the annual Eighties Ladies Luncheon for thirty years. She was on several church committees over the years and worked with Girls in Action groups. She and Jerry served as directors of an adult Sunday School Department for many years.

We are blessed and thankful for the wonderful oncology medical team at the Woodlands Medical Specialists, especially Dr. Shaelish Patel, for their special attention to Diane's medical needs for more than fifteen years. Also, we are blessed and thankful for Dr. George Knefely and his wonderful medical team, Diane's primary physician for forty years.

Memorial Visitation will be held 10:00am until the Memorial Service to begin at 11:00am Friday, November 3, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Pleitz Chapel. Jerry and Diane are long-time members of First Baptist Church of Pensacola and their former pastor and friend, Dr. Barry Howard, will conduct the Celebration of Life Service. Dr. Howard will be assisted by family friends, Rev. Jim Murphy, Dr. Ross Lankford, Rev. Blake Benge, Dr. Lynne Lauderdale, and Mrs. Amanda Howard. A Private Family Graveside will follow at Bayview Memorial Park on Scenic Hwy.
