IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine Friedheim
Moore
June 22, 1934 – April 7, 2025
Catherine Friedheim Moore, 90, a loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 7, 2025.
Catherine was born on June 22,1934, to Joseph and Albina Friedheim. She was the fourth of seven children. Catherine grew up in Belle Glade, FL where her father was a farmer. She received a B.S. in Home Economics Education from Florida State University.
While at FSU, Catherine met the love of her life, Jack Moore, during a chance encounter when she offered him a ride while he was walking through campus in the rain. That moment began a lifetime of love and partnership, and they were married for over 67 years. Catherine was a devoted wife and mother and supported Jack throughout his 29-year Navy career, building a warm and loving home wherever they were stationed including Brunswick, ME (twice), Brunswick, GA, Virginia Beach, VA, Overland Park, KS and Pensacola, FL. Catherine and Jack finally settled in Pensacola, FL.
Catherine was a devout Catholic and her faith sustained her for her entire life. For the past 51 years, she was an active parishioner at St Paul Catholic Church where she attended daily mass and served faithfully as a eucharistic minister and sacristan for years. Catherine was a strong supporter of Catholic education, and she devoted many volunteer hours in a variety of endeavors at St Paul Catholic School and Pensacola Catholic High School.
Catherine was an avid gardener and birdwatcher and enjoyed playing on suburban tennis teams for many years. Her generous spirit and deep commitment to service were evident in the many ways she gave back to her community. She volunteered for over 25 years as a patient coordinator at Sacred Heart Hospital and made deliveries for Meals on Wheels for more than two decades. In 1994, she was honored as the Escambia County Council on Aging's Volunteer of the Year. She also volunteered as an information assistant at Gulf Islands National Seashore for several years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Louise Burns, Helen King, and Esther Masters; and her grandson, Matthew Colby.
Catherine is survived by her husband, Jack, her six children, 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
