Obituary

Catherine "Kitty" Sue Stewart Keeler, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, and friend, was born in Ashland, KY on August 3, 1932 and gracefully passed away in the loving arms of her family on March 21, 2014 in Pensacola, FL. Kitty was born and raised in Ashland, KY, graduating high school two years early as a result of her exceptional intelligence and superlative accomplishments. Kitty then went on to serve for years as a WAF in the United States Air Force, following her mother's footsteps in blazing the path for women into the armed forces. She was stationed in Fort Worth, TX, where she met the love of her life and best friend, Charles E. Keeler, Jr. She married Chuck in 1952 and started on her most extraordinary and esteemed career of building a home and raising a family, which included her three adoring daughters Pamela, Susan and Carol. Kitty was a leader among military wives and the Air Commandos, while loyally traveling to many cities and air force bases with her husband and children. Some of their travels included Washington D.C., Las Vegas, Massachusetts, Bermuda, and finally settling in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Kitty gently raised her three daughters while her husband was serving in Korea and twice in Vietnam. She was the past president's wife and longtime member in the Air Commando Association. Kitty was a fabulous hostess and portrayal of a strong woman. As a Nana, she was the supreme queen of grandmothers; making every holiday and visit with her grandchildren a joyous and cherished memory. Her house always had the biggest Christmas tree and the most lights on the block. She was a chef in the kitchen and was frequently asked by her children to start a restaurant or write a cookbook based on her excellence in the culinary arts. Lover of all things glitzy and glamorous, Kitty will always be idolized by her daughters and granddaughters for her impeccable fashion sense. She was and will always remain well known in the community and to her family and friends as a loving and caring role model. Catherine "Kitty" Sue Stewart Keeler is survived by her three daughters; Pamela Keeler Burns, Susan Keeler Haught and Carol Keeler Ridenour; her six grandchildren, who will all desperately miss the love pats and hugs from their Nana; Catherine Haught Ledvina and her husband Cody Ledvina, Colleen Marshall, Andrew Haught, Kelsea Haught, Charles Haught, Jamie Sears and Stephen Fetgatter; great grandson Ridley Marshall Evans and future great grandson Baby Fetgatter. She is also survived by her brother; Lawrence Stewart, sister-in-laws Mary Ann Stewart, Ann Adams, and Gert Keeler, brother-in-law Bill Adams and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was proceeded in death by her loving husband; Charles Keeler, mother; Bess Schuppman, father; Dr. Lawrence Stewart, step mother Stella Rose Stewart, and son-in-law, John Haught. Visitation will be 10:30 until the Funeral Service at 11:30am Monday, March 24, 2014 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery. Special thanks to the caring doctors and staff at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola who were so loving during our beloved mother's last days.
