Obituary

Commander Antonio Apap, US Navy (ret.) died Monday, August 25, 2025, in Pensacola at the Vitas Inpatient Care Facility at HCA West Florida Hospital.

Born in the Bronx, NY on April 15, 1936, he was the first of seven children born to Emanual Charles Apap and Josephine (Spagna) Apap. As a proud Naval aviator, he flew over 9,000 hours during assignments at various duty stations. Upon retiring from the Navy after 24 years of service, he went on to earn his doctorate and then taught finance at the University of West Florida for 20 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anna-Frances; his sisters, Mary Ann, Rosalie, Gloria and Joy; a brother, Charles; as well as his stepsons, Brian Slade and Darin Slade; and step-grandson, Mason Slade.

Visitation will be held from 11:30am until a Funeral Service begins at 12:30pm Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 7979 N. 9th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32514, with Fr. Rob Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
