CDR Terry L. Love (USN, ret.), 71, of Pensacola, FL died peacefully at home Monday, July 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born February 20, 1947 in Madison WI to Marjorie and Robert Larson. She grew up in Ventura, CA. Graduating from UCLA in 1969, Terry joined VISTA and volunteered in El Paso, TX. She married Paul Love in 1976. She moved to Oregon and was Education Director at the Parrott Creek Ranch. Commissioned in the Navy in 1982, she served at several duty stations, including Naval Education and Training Command and Navy Recruiting Orientation Unit in Pensacola, and her favorite, Rota Spain. After retirement in 2001, Terry continued her service to others by delivering meals on wheels and tutoring Spanish-speaking elementary students. To celebrate her 60 th birthday, she hiked the Camino de Santiago, a 500-mile trek across Spain.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Terry is survived by her long time partner, Barbara Taylor; son, Coby Love (Kelly) and her granddaughters, Briar and Terra Rae of Denver, CO; as well as her sisters, Sue Goeres (Mark) of Tigard, OR, Shelley Jones (Keith) of La Verne, CA, and former husband, Paul Love of El Paso, TX.
Funeral Cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 11:30am Friday, August 3, 2018 for a Graveside Service beginning at 12:00noon at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Navy honors.
