Cecil R. Pate, 83, of Navarre, FL passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Baptist Hospital following a severe stroke. He was born on November 12, 1927 in Pensacola, FL. After graduating high school he joined the submarine service in the US Navy. He then co-owned Pates Gulf Service Station with his father. Mr. Pate lived an extraordinary life and was a faithful member of the Navarre Church of Christ. He was loved by all and will be severely missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie Dykes Pate; parents, Robert E. and Annie Mae Pate as well as a sister, Edith Magnasco. Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Diane Pate and Judy Hargrove; son, William R. Pate (Annette); grandchildren, William Pate, David Johnsen and Olivia Johnsen; great-grandson, Daelen Johnsen and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial Service will be held 10:00am Monday, January 24, 2011 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Mr. Roger Lindsay officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 752 Lovejoy Rd., Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32548.
