In loving memory, Charles "Charlie" Bowers, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at his home in Pensacola, FL. His wife of 53 years Linda and his beloved Godson, James were at his side.
Charlie was born on June 5, 1950, in Chicago, IL and grew up in the Sanders Beach area in Pensacola, FL until leaving with his father for Jacksonville. From there they ventured to Alaska where he graduated high school in Cordova.
He met Linda Lofgren at a summer job with the Alaska DMV. They married in 1971 and began a life of adventure. He was an entrepreneur and was always looking for THE DEAL. Contracting took him around the world. He was instrumental in developing the Asbestos Standards for the State of Alaska, which were also adopted by the Federal Government.
He was a mentor and confidant always there for family and friends. He will be missed by all who met him. He will be forever in our hearts.
Charlie is preceded in death by his father, John P. Bowers Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; his mother, Helen Bowers; his brother, Michael Bowers; his four sisters, Elizabeth Bowers Pretzinger (John), Jo Ann Martin (Terry), Mary Kay Bowers, and Lorina Amburgey; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Jacksonville Warner and Atwood Family, James, Carmen, Xander, Debbie, Kim, and Ricky; his Eagle River Elsmann Family, Kate, Laura, Ian, and Genevieve Lowrance; as well as dear friends, Richard Sheppard, Cynthia Garriga, John and Gail Willis and Steve Wright.
