Obituary

Charles Sidney Cannon, 80, of Pensacola, FL was called home by the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Charles was born on March 17, 1942, in Dothan, AL, to the late John M. and Katheryn Ming Cannon. Charles graduated from Auburn University in 1964. He enjoyed officiating at High School and Youth sporting events including football, softball, basketball, and baseball, in both Alabama and Florida. He was an Avid golfer, having played in many amateur and pro-am tournaments across NW Florida for many years. Charles was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was an active member of Olive Baptist Church since 1995, serving as Deacon, Church Treasurer, Choir member and was also active in the Sunday School Program. Many people around town will know Charles for his time with large groups of friends at Smokey's BBQ, rumor is he will have a plaque on his table soon. Charles loved to spend time with his family and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Brett E. Cannon; a brother, John Cannon; as well as a sister, Elizabeth Cannon.

Survivors include, his loving wife of 61 years, Emma Sue Cannon; daughter, Suzanne Cannon Stinson (Len); and honorary daughter, Ana Cecilia Garces-Just (Ernie); son, Blake Cannon (Carol); sister-in-law, Dollie Granger; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Maddock; grandchildren, Jake Stinson, Lauren Stinson, Alex Stinson, Chandler Cannon (Katerina), Grant Cannon, Brandon Pearson, Meagan Pearson, Sydney Cannon Pugh (Josh), Logan Cannon, Shay Cannon, and Michael Just; as well as many other extended family members.

Visitation will be held 9:30am until a Funeral Service to begin at 11:00am Friday, December 16, 2022, at Olive Baptist Church, with Dr. Ted Traylor officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Logan Cannon, Jake Stinson, Alex Stinson, Chandler Cannon, Grant Cannon, Brandon Pearson, and Josh Pugh.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Joyce, Steve Mack, Steve Barry, Ronnie Douglas, Charles Frederickson, David Stacey, Alvin Potts and David Barry.

"Almost all of the sports knowledge ever is now being discussed and argued about in Heaven between these guys."

The family would like to give special thanks to Drs. Emmanuel Cruz, Debbie Sprague and staff from Woodlands Medical for their love, care and support, also to Dr. Brent Videau for being a trusted physician for many years.
