IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Robert
"Chuck" Schraishuhn
January 3, 1943 – March 5, 2022
Charles Robert "Chuck" Schraishuhn of Pensacola, FL and Long Beach Island, NJ died March 5, 2022, of complications resulting from asbestosis. He was 79 years old.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Harold "Dutch" Schraishuhn; mother, Dorothy Owens and stepfather, Bill Owens; and father-in- law, Parker Worthington.
Chuck is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of over 60 years, Sarah (nee Worthington) Schraishuhn and his only child, Kim Rainer (Jeff), all of Pensacola, FL. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Uff of Aston, PA and Bette Jo Stant of Aston, PA and brother, Harold Schraishuhn of Kawerau, New Zealand.
Chuck was born on January 3, 1943, in Erie, PA. He grew up in Chester, Pennsylvania and joined the United States Air Force after graduating from Chester High School in 1960. He served his country for four years before becoming an apprentice boiler maker at the Sun Ship Dry Dock through the Pennsylvania State Apprenticeship Program. Chuck worked his way through college while working as an apprentice and during the early years of his career. Before graduating from Widener University in 1972, Chuck started working at the Westinghouse Electric Corporation in 1968 where he worked until his retirement as Plant Manager in 2001. He returned to work as a consultant for the Siemens Corporation shortly thereafter, before finally retiring in 2006. Chuck was tough but fair, hardworking but also fun-loving. He took pride in his role as a leader and was thrilled when those he worked with succeeded.
Chuck was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in the Gulf of Mexico and at the Jersey Shore, spending his time on his boats, Reelaxing and Shore Thing. He also enjoyed cruising in his 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass and driving on the beaches of the Jersey Shore every fall in his Jeep. He had a big personality and loved to make people laugh. His greatest pleasure of all, though, was just hanging out with Sarah and their beloved dogs and spending summers on the Jersey Shore. He was so proud of his daughter and thought it was just the funniest thing that she turned out to be just like him. Chuck was always generous, constantly thinking of those he loved and was the first to lend a hand or to offer some words of advice or kindness. He provided a wonderful life for his family and was a great husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be sorely missed.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola, FL. Visitation will begin at noon with a service to follow at 1:00 pm CST.
