Charles Chuck Carter, age 49, died peacefully in his sleep on April 16, 2012 after a 3-year battle with ALS. Chuck was born in Athens, GA, grew up in Greer, SC and attended Riverside HS. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Stephanie Carter; son, Caden Carter; and many family members in South Carolina and Alabama. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Carter. Chuck was a golf course contractor for over 25 years and built golf courses throughout the Southeast, many in partnership with his father as Carter Golf, Inc. If there was ever a man who loved life, it was Chuck. He was an avid sports fan, loving all sports but particularly youth sports to which he donated much time and talent. He was a staple at Catholic High sporting events watching his pride and joy, Caden, as well as all of Cadens teammates and friends. His gregarious nature, smile, laughter, and the love of a good story, made Chuck an instant friend for life. Chuck loved his family, good music, animals, tall tales, and laughter. He accepted all with an open heart and good sense of fun and enthusiasm. Chucks perfect day included a wonderful breakfast with his wife and son, going to a baseball game in the jeep , and having friends over for an impromptu party. Chucks positive attitude, generosity, his love of his family, including dogs and cats, earned him the love and devotion of many friends who came and had lunches with him up to the time of his death. His friends and the Carters Crusaders deserve special thanks and recognition for the critical part they played in improving the quality of his life. His courage and life had a profound impact on all who knew him and will inspire us forever. Visitation will be held from 5:30pm until the Funeral service to begin at 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd., Pensacola, FL.
