IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles "Bill"
& Julia Strickland
September 21, 2022
Charles "Bill" William Strickland, 98, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 25, 2022, just 80 hours after his beloved wife, Julia Belle Strickland, 95, preceded him in death on Friday, September 21, 2022. They were married for 76 years.
They were childhood sweethearts and had known each other since he was twelve and she was nine. Six months after graduating high school, Charles joined the Navy and saw action in World War II in North Africa and the landings in Sicily, Salerno, Anzio, and Normandy. He carried a photo of "his baby" Judy during the war.
They married after the war on May 29, 1946, and Judy began her nearly 30-year "enlistment" as a navy wife, after which they retired to Pensacola, FL, where they lived for 47 years until they needed more care and moved to be with their family in Tennessee.
They were devoted to each other, to their country, their Lord, and their family. They were long-time members of the First Assembly of God in Pensacola.
They are survived by their son, Dan Strickland (Debra) of Ringgold, GA; granddaughter, Amy Bradberry (Chis) of Ringgold, GA; grandson, Brian Strickland (Kaysie) of Chattanooga, TN; as well as great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Bradberry, Carter Bradberry, Charlie Strickland and Henry Strickland.
Visitation will be held 9:30am until a funeral service to begin at 10:00am Monday, October 3, 2022, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
