Charlie Merritt, a wonderful man and dear friend of many died Sunday, December 28, 2014. Charlie, a Pensacola native, was a considerate and generous man who was respected and loved. He was the owner of Merritt's Paint & Supply Company for more than 20 years and was married to Donna Fassett for 25 years. Charlie was an active member and volunteer of Krewe of Lafitte, Bee Tree Hunting Club and the Gulfcoast Arts Festival. Preceding him in death was his mother and father, Juanita & Bill Merritt; his wife, Donna and his son, Robert. Left behind to honor his life are his son, Donald; his grandchildren, Morgan and Jake; two sisters, Sharon Gulledge and Carolyn Trapp; his brother, Leslie; two nieces, Sarah and Rachel; a nephew, Jonathan; his mother-in-law, Woody Fassett and her family. Visitation will be held 10:00am until a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11:00am Friday, January 2, 2015 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Wolfe officiating. Charlie requested that all memorial contributions be made to The Arc Gateway Foundation for the Donna Fassett Memorial Fund, 3932 N. Tenth Ave., Pensacola, FL 32503.
