Charles was born in Pensacola, FL on April 10, 1936, to Jon and Myrtle Peeterse. After graduating high school he joined the US Army serving as a paratrooper. He worked for the City of Pensacola & ECUA for 27 yrs combined. After retiring he started another career with the Santa Rosa Island Authority from which he retired in 2003. He also worked part-time over the years as a drafter with his friend Oscar Pittman.
He married the love of his life, Peggy Golson, January 5, 1957. They raised 4 sons and 1 daughter. His favorite hobbies included fishing, working in the yard and wood shop, and traveling with Peggy. He loved spending time with his family, especially his best buddy Garrett Gandy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Randy; brothers, John, George & Rick and sisters, Gertrude & Teresa.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy Golson Peeterse; sons, Charles (Mitzi), Craig (Trina) and Steve (Dana); daughter, Suzanne (Haynes)Gandy; brothers, Tybee (Celia) and Edward (Rell); sister in law, Sonnie Peeterse, twenty four grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Visitation will be held 3:00-5:00pm on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel with Father Nicholas Shumm officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
Active Pallbearers will be: Steven Peeterse, Charles Peeterse III, Dan Peeterse, Lee Hallum, Hunter Peeterse, Matthew Daniel and Garrett Gandy.
