Obituary

Charles E. Smith of Pensacola, FL passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

Mr. Smith was born in Lansing, TN on March 3, 1928 to John C. and Bessie M (Gunter) Smith. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Charles moved from Detroit, MI in 1968 and owned and operated Ferry Pass Hardware and retired as a handyman contractor. He was a good neighbor and often worked pro bono for people who were unable to pay for his services, he was very generous. He loved Classic Country Music, and wrote songs that he wished would be published. He lived a long life and was ready for the end.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clarence Smith; and sister, Pat McClain.

Survivors include his sisters, Jean Puckett (Bud), Kathy Stoner (Tommy) of Pensacola; sons, Charles A. Smith of Pensacola, John R. Smith (Amy) of Wenatchee, WA, Joseph A. Smith (Kim) of Sandpoint, ID; daughter, Carmen McClammy (Darrel) of Pensacola; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 12noon until the Memorial Service at 12:30pm Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. Committal service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors.
