IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlotte Sims
Plack
July 13, 1932 – September 23, 2018
Charlotte Sims Plack, 86, of Pensacola, passed away on September 23, 2018.
Born Charlotte Harrison Sims in New York, New York to a Navy family, she graduated from Pensacola High School and attended Pensacola Junior College. In 1953, she married a young Air Force Lieutenant, Richard Plack, also of Pensacola. The two of them then set out on a thirty-year, globetrotting adventure in our country's service, having four children along the way. When Colonel Plack retired, he and Charlotte returned home to Pensacola.
Charlotte was in many ways a traditional 1950's wife and mother, always making her family feel loved and supported. But Charlotte also had a non-traditional streak. She was her own person with her own ideas. She also had a well-developed, playful sense of humor. Charlotte loved to have fun.
Charlotte was the matriarch of the Plack family. She was also known as "Sister" and "Mugga" to friends and family, and she knew how to light up a room. Charlotte took pride and joy in showing off her grandchildren to everyone she knew. She had a passion for reading, shopping, sewing, cooking, and made sure to keep up with the latest fashion trends.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, Douglas; brother, Martin Sims and sister, Caryl Anne Jewell.
She is survived by her children, Susan Hayes (Mike), Celia Molina (Mark), and Jacob Plack (Melissa); seven grandchildren; six great –grandchildren; and sister, Norma Crooke.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on October 3, 2018 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL. Inurnment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, where Charlotte will be placed with her husband Richard, near the church where they were married.
