December 20, 1944 – August 3, 2025
Cherie (Carpenter) Neal Munoz, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 20, 1944, in Augusta, GA, Cherie attended Mount St. Joseph and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1962. She received her associate's degree from Augusta College. After moving to Pensacola in 1972, she began working for the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families and retired as a Supervisor after 29 years of dedicated service.
Cherie and her husband Noel met through their local bowling league where they shared a love of the sport. Cherie remained deeply connected to bowling throughout her life. For many years she was a proud and enthusiastic member of leagues at Fulton's, Liberty, DeLuna, and Cordova Bowling Lanes. There she formed friendships and created countless memories that she cherished, even celebrating her 80th birthday bowling with her family just this past year.
Her greatest pride was her family. Cherie will be remembered for her gentle strength, her witty sense of humor, and the unwavering love she gave to those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and peace that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Cherie is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Noel Munoz; her daughters, Elizabeth McGee and Melanie (Doug) Bailey; son, David (Ashlie) Neal, Jr.; her grandchildren, Tyler (Caitie) McGee, Kyle (Peyton) McGee, Jacqueline (Jake) Molina, Chris (Kathryn) Neal, Rainey (Justin) Burns, Jack Bailey, David Neal III and Julia Neal; great-grandchildren, Barrett, Emilia, Cooper, Lucy, Clark, Camden, Brooks, Shep and Wells; brother in law, Joe May; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
