IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chesley Gene
Singleton
August 19, 1938 – January 5, 2017
Chesley Gene Singleton, 78, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017.
Mr. Singleton was born in Eufala, AL. Chesley joined the U.S. Navy in 1957 and served 20 years. He then finished his education at PJC and UWF while being a stay at home Dad, while his wife Maureen traveled as a photographer, he supported her as she pursued her career. Chesley then worked civil service for 11 years before retiring from that career. He then opened "The Golfball Warehouse" in Pace, FL where he and his daughter enjoyed the game of golf. He loved to play golf, hunt and fish as much as he could in his later years. Chesley was a wonderful grandfather, "Pop" to his 3 grandsons, Jacob, Bailey and Blake. He taught them more than books ever will. Chesley and Maureen were partners to the end, taking care of each other, enjoying trips to Biloxi and attending Mass together. He was a true friend and mentor to anyone he met. He never met a stranger and every lady that he met was "darling" and "sugar." His friends knew him to always be there for them no matter what. His children could always count on him, he never said no. He was an amazing dad, husband, grandfather and friend.
Mr. Singleton is preceded in death by his son, Chesley R.V. (Chewy) Singleton; mother, Olive Mae Singleton; father, Louis R.V. Singleton and brother, Roger D. Singleton.
He is survived by his darling wife of almost 60 years, Maureen A. Singleton; son, William (Billy) Singleton and wife, Donna; daughter, Maureen "Olivia" Stanford and husband, Mike; grandsons, Jacob Singleton and wife, Kaylyn, Bailey Clark and Blake Stanford; sister, Janet Doyle and many nieces, nephews and many loyal friends.
