Obituary

Chester Stanhope, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 31, 2021.

Chet, as most people know him, was retired from the United States Postal Service where he served as manager of the Myrtle Grove Post Office for many years. He also was manager of the Nobles Post Office.

His greatest joy was his family and his church. Our dad had unlimited ability to care deeply and give unconditionally his love to his wife, son, daughter and all five of his grandchildren. If we needed anything he made no excuses, he was just there.  He always said "That's my job and I love it". Chet was a devoted member of Little Flower Catholic Church since 1963. He served as usher, choir member, Parish Council President, President of the School Board, baseball and football coach, cubmaster, and Eucharistic Minister.

There are no words to express his love for his wife but it can be felt when reading the many love poems he wrote for her. Dad always said he was one lucky man to have five wonderful grandchildren. To his grandchildren, he was "Pops", and for them he was their grandfather, their playmate, their friend, and their teacher – no greater love than this.

Chet is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary; his son, Chester Stanhope, Jr.( Kathleen); his "Darling Heart" daughter, Lori Crigler (Jeff) and his grandchildren, Olivia, Chase (Chester III), William, Hillary, Trenton and great grandson, Levi Satnhope. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Henderson and his sisters, Debbie Hartzog and Mary Horton.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the Funeral Mass is celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Little Flower Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Chase Stanhope, Will Stanhope, Trenton Crigler, Jeff Crigler, Nathan Crongeyer, and Paul Cope. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Godwin, Pat Remich, and George Kennel.
