Starts at 11:00 am (Hawaii time)
Chizu Hansche, 82, resident of Pensacola Beach, FL passed away on February 13, 2026, following recent health complications.
Chizu was born in Tokyo, Japan, on August 5, 1943, to Hiroshi and Soeko Matsui. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Andrew “Bill” Hansche; her parents, Hiroshi and Soeko Matsui; and her brother, Kyoichi Matsui.
She is survived by her daughter, Luticia M. Hansche Boozer and her husband, Greg; and her two grandsons, Keiji S. Boozer and Kaelen G. Boozer.
Chizu lived a life filled with creativity, beauty, travel, and a deep appreciation for the world around her. She studied fashion design in Japan and later studied art at Central Arkansas University. Before meeting her husband, she worked for a fashion design company in Japan and used her artistic talent to create illustrations for advertisements and other projects. Art was always a meaningful part of her life, and she was a talented painter as well as an accomplished ikebana artist.
Chizu met Bill while he was stationed at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Japan. Their life together took them around the world through his military career, allowing Chizu to meet many people, experience different places, and share her love of art and culture along the way. She had a wonderful sense of fashion and an eye for beauty, whether it was in clothing, flowers, paintings, nature, or the quiet details of everyday life.
She also had a lifelong love of golf. Chizu learned to play while she and Bill were stationed in Arkansas, and the game became something she enjoyed for the rest of her life. Golf brought her friendships, joy, and time spent outdoors. It also became something her family shared together. After moving to Florida following Bill’s passing, Chizu volunteered with First Tee Gulf Coast, where she enjoyed being around junior golf and sharing in the game with young players.
Chizu and Bill eventually settled in Hawaii, where they lived for 17 years before his passing in 2024. Hawaii became a special place in her heart. She painted, played golf, made friends, and even tried hula, which brought her a great deal of joy. Although her life took her many places, she always carried a deep connection to her Japanese heritage. One of her favorite times to return to Japan was during cherry blossom season, when the beauty of the flowers reflected so much of what she appreciated in life.
Chizu loved flowers, nature, golf, art, fashion, and, in her own unique way, WWE. She was an interesting, creative, and unforgettable person. Her life was full of color, talent, strength, and moments of joy. She will be remembered for the beauty she created, the places she traveled, the friendships she made, and the love she shared with her family.
Her memory will continue to live on through her daughter, her grandsons, and all those who were touched by her life.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to First Tee Gulf Coast .
A special thank you to the Palliative Care team at Baptist Hospital Gulf Breeze and Select Specialty Hospital Pensacola for the compassionate care and support they provided to my mother and our family.
