Christian V. "Dot" Babb Courtney passed away peacefully October 31, 2013, at age 86 and is in the arms of the Lord. Dot was born August 30, 1927, in Pensacola, FL, to Marian Daniel Babb and Dora D. Babb. She married Jesse S. Courtney Jr. in 1947 and was the mother of three children. Dot enjoyed fishing, shopping and spending time with her family. Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse S. Courtney Jr.; grandson, Russell Jesse Courtney; brother, Grady Babb; sister-in-law, Estell Babb; sister, Dimples Mabire; sister, Lillie Mae Bovee; and her parents. Dot is survived by her son, Russell Courtney (Judy); daughter, Helen Yvonne Peake (Dwight); son, Rodney Courtney (Donna), Buster and Nelda Tindel, all of Pensacola; grandchildren: Jennifer Peake, Joshua Peake, Samantha Courtney (Joe Davis), Monica Markham, Amanda Swindell (David), Sara Lenn (Drew) and Russell Bjorensen, all of Pensacola; great-grandchildren, Cody Markham (Ashley), Madeline Markham, Keaton Davis, Barrett Swindell and Carson Swindell; cousin, Ralph Sanders (Vera), of Panama City, FL; and numerous church friends from Calvary Baptist Church of Pensacola. The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00pm Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. The funeral will begin at 1:00pm, with Rev. Herby Mabrie officiating. Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the staff of Covenant Hospice, Laurelwoods Assisted Living Facility and Sacred Heart Hospital for their loving care during this time.
