Obituary

Cindy Maria "Rigby" Parden, 65, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 25, 2022. She passed away quietly with her husband at her side, at the Robertsdale, Alabama Rehab/Healthcare Center.

Cindy Parden was born on August 6, 1957, in Pensacola, FL, she was the youngest daughter to Leroy and Lorene Rigby. She attended OJ Semmes Elementary, Workman Jr. High, and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1975. Cindy fulfilled her dream to be an elementary school teacher when she graduated from the University of West Florida in 1979. She later acquired her master's degree in elementary education from the University of South Alabama in 1989. She taught elementary education, first in Escambia County Florida, and later in Mobile County Alabama from 1980 to 2008. Additionally, she was the co-chair of Policies and Procedures of the Mobile County Education Association 1994-95; State Delegate to the National Education Assembly representing the Mobile County Alabama Education Association 1990-95; Association of Classroom Teachers of Alabama 1992-95; Secretary of the Country Club Village Civic Association 2003-04; Cindy was listed numerous times in the national publication "Who's who among America's Teachers."

Cindy married Stephen A. Parden in 1998 and they had more than 24 wonderful years together. Growing up in Pensacola she was active in the "Disciples of Christ" First Christian Church of Pensacola. Later, Cindy was an active member of the "Disciples of Christ" Azalea Hills Christian Church in Mobile where she taught Sunday School, worked with the Children's church, and sang in the choir.

Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Martha Heckman and Nancy Holcomb (who died Dec. 1, 2022) (Mike); nephew, Ben Holcomb; and brother-in-law, Frank Parden.

Visitation will be held 10:30am until a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00am Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at First Christian Church, 6031 Goodrich Dr., Pensacola, FL 32504, with Pastor Tim Clarke officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Hwy., Pensacola, FL 32504.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Memorial Fund", First Christian Church, 6031 Goodrich Dr., Pensacola, FL 32504.
