Clarence M. Pape, Sr. died November 18, 2009 at his home in Gulf Breeze, FL. He was 90 years of age and an original native of Pensacola, FL and moved to Gulf Breeze in 1974. Clarence married Florence Weed in October 1945 after returning from World War II where he served in the United States Air Corps serving in Europe. He flew with the 559 Bomb Group and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal with 12 Oak Leafs and the Europe Medal with four stars. Clarence returned to Pensacola and covered Northwest Florida and South Alabama with distributor sales of appliances and electronics. He retired as Vice President of Pensacola Appliance in 1987. Mr. Pape is survived by his two sons, Clarence M. Pape, Jr. (Rosemary) of Pensacola and Terry Michael Pape (Rita) of Gulf Breeze. In addition, six grandchildren, Angela Horne (Gary), Clarence M. Pape, III (Detra), Daniel Pape (Paige), Rebekah (Dondi), Lacey Gruver (Michael) Brandi D. Pape and Patricia Pape (daughter-in-law) and many great grand children and one brother George Pape (Pearl). In his younger days Clarence was very active in civic affairs serving as President of Sacred Heart C.C.D., Catholic High School PTA, Pensacola Lions Club President Deputy District Governor, Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Gulf Breeze, and Fiesta Order of Tristan. He was also a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze and served as Eucharistic Minister for years. Visitation will be held 5:30pm-7:00pm, with a rosary starting at 5:00pm on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Gulf Breeze. Private Family Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clarence M. Pape, III, Daniel P. Pape, Gary Horne, Donde Frenkel and Michael Gruver. Flowers will be accepted. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
