After a lengthy battle with COPD, Clifford Sidney Murdock, III passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Sunday, December 15, 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Sidney Murdock, Jr., his mother, Thelma Arrington Murdock and sister, Sidney Murdock Sellman. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Wessel Murdock, five children and spouses, Christi Eadler (Christopher), Dana Murdock-Hinson (Tommy), Henry (Hank) Murdock, Mary Kelly McLeod (Richard), Clifford Sidney Murdock, IV (Laurie), eleven grandchildren, and former daughter-in-law, Glenda Jensen Murdock. He is also survived by his sister, Mitch Murdock Tinker, brother-in-law, Capt. Charles L. Tinker, USN Ret. and countless devoted friends and extended family members. Cliff was born on January 25, 1936 in Pensacola, FL. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1953. He worked alongside his father at Cliff, Jr.'s Pure Oil Service Station on the corner of Alcaniz and Cervantes Streets. He served a two year stint in the U.S. Army, and afterwards worked many jobs, including service with the City of Pensacola Fire Department. He retired from NAS Whiting Field Fire Department on April 30, 1995. He met the love of his life, Mary, in 1956, at her father's restaurant, Jerry's Drive In. At that very first meeting, he declared that he would marry her. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on July 13, 2013. Visitation will be 10:00am Thursday, December 19, 2013, with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. John G. Wagner, and the Sacred Heart Hospital nurses who cared for him during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
