Clinton Alton Murphy completed life's journey on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Gulf Breeze, FL. It was a journey that lasted 86 years and one filled with much adventure, love and success.
Born August 2, 1930, Clinton grew up in Old Fort, NC. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Navy serving four years during the Korean War. Using his GI Bill, he graduated from the school of engineering at the University of Houston, TX.
Clinton and wife Hazel Robinson Murphy had two sons, Gary and David, and all traveled throughout the US and Central America during Clinton's 30 years of employment with the Federal Aviation Administration. During his employment he was appointed to the Senior Executive Service by President Jimmy Carter and attended the Air War College in Montgomery, AL.
One achievement of which Clint was particularly proud was of being a Master Mason for 46 years and a member of the Ancon Lodge in Balboa, Panama. He was also a member of the Moslah Shrine in Ft. Worth, TX.
He will now be reunited with his father, Hardy Murphy; mother, Berdie Painter Murphy and brother, Lester Murphy. He leaves behind two brothers, Clayton and Colish, both of Old Fort, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Robinson Murphy; son, David; son, Gary and wife Kathleen; and grandson, Kel and wife, Nicole.
Funeral Cortege will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 1:30pm for a Graveside Service to begin at 2:00pm Friday, August 11, 2017 at Barrancas National Cemetery with Chaplain Ken Griffin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Shriners Children's Hospital, Moslah Shrine, 1100 Henderson St., Fort Worth, TX 76102.
