Cliven Joseph Cormier, Jr., age 45, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 5, 1977, to Anita Breaux Cormier and the late Cliven Joseph Cormier, Sr. After a lengthy illness he departed this life on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Cliven was educated in the Orleans Parish (LA) and Escambia County (FL) school systems. After graduating high school, Cliven aspired to be a musician. He and his friends started a band and performed at local venues. After his group disbanded, Cliven took on other roles.

When Cliven smiled, he smiled big. When Cliven laughed, he did so heartily. He will be remembered for his avid storytelling and his "bank of little-known facts". Cliven never met a stranger and was always accepting of those who were considered to be different and would challenge the status quo. Cliven was the "Baby Whisperer" of the family and the children were always drawn to him. If no one else could calm them, he could. Cliven was a self-taught guitarist and due to his declining health, his inability to play as he once had was greatly missed. He was ravenous with learning and encouraged everyone to be opened minded and learn as much as they could, whether formally or otherwise. Cliven loved his family and enjoyed being around them, even when he could not participate in some activities.

Those left to celebrate his life are his son, Joseph Cormier; his mother, Anita Breaux Cormier; his brother, Terrance (Tina), of New Orleans, LA; three sisters, Annette, of Pensacola, FL, Erica, of Houston, TX and Elisia, of Mobile, AL; nephews, Alex and Terrance, Jr.; nieces, Allison, Brionna, Talah, Taelyn, Alexis, and Helena; as well as two great nieces; a great nephew and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at 11:30 am until the Funeral Service to begin at 12:30 pm at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel located at 2276 Airport Boulevard, Pensacola. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
