Anderson

Clyde Crow Anderson, 94, passed away on September 14, 2024, at Azalea Trace in Pensacola, FL. He was born in Florence, AL to Owen P. and Mabel G. Anderson. He graduated from Florence State Teachers College, receiving a bachelor's degree in business administration. Clyde was awarded the Turris Fidelis Award for his service and was president of his class. In 1952, he married Mary J. White in Fairview, AL. They were married for 44 years and together raised four children. Clyde also served in the US Army as a Lieutenant of Military Police.
Mr. Anderson was owner and president of Associated Insurance of Pensacola for 35 years and a continually active member of his community. His achievements included the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award and the Council's Certificate of Merit Award, President of the North Rotary Club, and the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow Award. He served as Chairman of the Board at First United Methodist Church, along with other Methodist Conference positions, and was an active church member for 60 years. Clyde co-founded the first dialysis center in West Florida and served on its board and the Organ Harvest Board. He was appointed by the governor to the Florida Kidney Board.
Clyde enjoyed many happy years with June Purser, leading an active life full of social activities and, importantly, dancing. They were involved with a variety of organizations including the Pensacola Jazz Society and the Bananimals Mardi Gras Krewe. They lived in Lionsgate of Gulf Breeze, FL where he served as the HOA president.
Clyde is survived by his children, Wayne Anderson, of Pensacola, Bob Anderson (Robin), of Suwannee, GA, Jim Anderson (Rosemary Ellis), of Brooklyn, NY, and Beth Anderson of Marietta, GA; He is also survived by grandchildren, Amy McDonald, Philip Anderson, Evan Anderson, and Lucy Anderson; great-grandchildren, Camden and Davis McDonald; niece, Lynn Burden; and nephew Glenn Anderson.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at First United Methodist Church of Pensacola. A private casting ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to American Kidney Fund or First United Methodist Church.
