COL Richard Reddon "Brad" Braddock, Sr., USA (Ret.), passed away peacefully Friday, December 31, 2021.

This was a wonderful 81 years of life lived by a special man. He lived in the best of times and knew it. Brad was born in Jacksonville, FL and lived there until joining the military. He was a man of dignity, pride, and love of country. Brad proudly served his country for 30 years and then went on to work for SAIC for another 17 years to support our military in corporate America.

As a family, we had the most exciting life living and traveling around the world. There was always another country to visit and another move to make. Brad and Betty were married for 56 wonderful years. As a family, we knew our dad and husband loved us the most. He was the "good guy" and our protector. No matter what, he looked for the best in life. Brad loved and followed the University of Alabama. We attended the games during the "Bear Bryant" days while Brad earned his Master's degree. As dementia started to take over Brad's mind, he was never aware he was changing. That was a true gift from God!

Brad is preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Anne Braddock (2016).

He is survived by his wife, Betty Hudson Braddock; son, Richard Reddon Braddock, Jr. and daughter, Joy Deane Braddock McLaurine and husband Henry McLaurine; the number one grandson, Reddon Clayton McLaurine; as well as his brother, Donald Layton Braddock and wife Deborah.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, with Rev. Susan Sowers officiating. A brief reception in the parish hall will follow, and then a 1:00pm interment at Barrancas National Cemetery with full Army honors.

As a family we would like to thank, Dr. Anita Westafer (Ret.), Dr Wray, and the wonderful staff of nurses at Sacred Heart-PCU. His last days in Covenant Care Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital were made so special by everyone there, as it is a very caring and loving space.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled Army Veterans (DAV.org).
