Obituary

Constance Ellen "Connie" Harris, 79, went home to be with the Lord on July 21st, 2020, at her home in Lillian, Alabama. On January 10th, 1941, Connie was born in Birmingham, Alabama, to Leland and Ellen Loach. Her family moved to College Park, Georgia, when she was two. She married her best friend and soulmate, Danny Harris, in March of 1959, the same year she graduated from College Park High School.

Connie was a loving wife throughout her life, enjoying 62 years together with her husband, Dan. She was a devoted mother and lover of animals of all kinds, especially cats and birds (except hawks in her backyard.)

Connie used her life to praise and serve the Lord through her work and ministries. She brought the good news of Jesus to elderly shut-ins as she served their personal needs. As a Co-laborer for Jews For Jesus, she worked as a missionary coordinator, traveling to multiple cities for training and outreach.  Connie worked for her local church on Isles of Capri as an administrative assistant to the Senior Pastor. She authored a newsletter for many years that shared her perspectives on Jesus and pointed readers to important passages from her favorite sermons and theological writings.  A highlight of Connie's life was traveling to the Holy Land on several occasions to retrace the footsteps of Jesus and better understand bible history.

Connie was a talented, self-taught writer and worked part-time as a writer for the Marco Island Eagle, where she focused on community issues of the Isles of Capri.

Connie was known for her superb cooking skills and famous for her special Pot Roast recipe and cornmeal fried fish. Her cooking was an expression of her great love for her family and friends.

Connie is survived by her husband, Dan; her daughter, Susie Harris; and her two sons, Marty and Jeff Harris. She is also survived by her sister and her husband, Rosemary and Peter Messmore; sisters-in-law, Jeanette French and Dorothy Harris; her niece and her husband, Linda and Danny D'Hollosy; her nephews, Ken Loach and his wife Susan, Dr. Courtney French and his wife Jill, and Dr. Chris French and his wife, Anita.

Connie is preceded in death by her brother and his wife, Lester and Betty Loach, and her brother-in-law, Neil Harris.

Please join us in celebrating Connie's life Tuesday morning, September 15th, between 11:00 am and 12noon at Coastline Calvary Chapel, 1122 Oriole Beach Road, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563.  A luncheon will follow at The Grand Marlin, 400 Pensacola Beach Blvd, Pensacola Beach, FL 32561.

In lieu of flowers, Connie's family asks that you spend time with loved ones, take a walk on the beach, read your bible, and praise God. That is what Connie would wish for you.
