Constance Nash Tanner passed away on April 12, 2016.
Connie was born February 2, 1927 in Deer Lodge, Montana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lily Oliver Nash and Russell Orvin Nash, her twin sister Barbara Nash and Connie's husband of 65 years, Hugh B. Tanner Sr.
Connie and Hugh Tanner lived, raised their family and became very active in the civic life of Pensacola for over sixty eight years. She was a past President of the Pensacola Music Association, a Girl Scout Troop leader, a Scouting District director and a substitute teacher. She was also active in garden club, book club and PTA.
Connie attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. As an art major, she also studied at the Chicago Art Institute and later Goucher College.
A cradle Episcopalian, Connie was a past Director of Christian Education as well as being active in the life of Christ Episcopal Church with various committees and St. Simon's Chapter of the Episcopal Church Women.
In later years Connie was best known for her art work on glass and crystal and her ownership of the Crystal Zebra which she and Hugh started in 1975.
Connie is survived by her children, Susan Tanner of Bristol, TN, Hugh B. "Skip" Tanner, Jr. and wife Beth of Gulf Breeze, Russell E. "Rusty" Tanner and wife Malinda of Molino, David N. Tanner and wife Pamela of Pensacola; eight grandsons, Stephen R. Lowe and wife Catherine, Andrew C. Lowe and wife Kristen, Justin T. Carson and wife Jade, Ryan E. Tanner and wife Michelle, Shane M. Tanner, Russell E. Tanner Jr. and wife Pamela, William A. Tanner, Christopher N. Tanner and wife Ashley; one granddaughter, Megan Tanner Ryan and husband Brendan; four great grandchildren, Ian Ryan, Allie Ryan, Savannah Carson and John "Jack" Tanner.
Memorial Service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Christ Church, 18 W. Wright St., Pensacola, FL.
