Obituary

Constance Lau Williams, 79, of Conyers, GA and formerly of Pensacola, FL passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018.

Constance was born in Colon, Republic of Panama on July 5, 1939. She attended her early education in Panama and Bermuda. She moved with her family to Brunswick, GA and graduated from Glynn Academy on May 24, 1959. While in High School she was on the swim team and was very proud of her accomplishments in swimming. She joined the US Navy on June 1, 1959 and served honorably until her discharge as a Yeoman 3rd Class on December 1, 1961. During this time, she married Harold Williams and due to being pregnant with their first child, she was required to leave the military. Tony was born in Jacksonville, FL while stationed there. A couple of years later, she had her second son, Richard while stationed in San Diego, CA and lastly, she had her daughter, Michelle in Pensacola, FL. As, the marriage did not last and she had the sole responsibility of raising her 3 children. She worked 3 jobs while going to school full time on her GI Bill. She graduated from University of West Florida in 1977 with her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Special Education. She was a member of the Chinese and International Clubs at the college. She taught and retired from the Escambia County School Board in 2005 after 28 years, she taught Special Education at PHS, Washington High School, and ending her career at Pine Forest High School. During this time, she was an avid bowler, loved her Spanish music, loved to fish with her children. She was a strong advocate of continued education and she taught Adult Chinese Cooking Classes and Adult Special Education life skill courses. She was a great cook and proficient seamstress. She loved The Atlanta Braves and watched every game she could. She was most proud of her 6 grandsons (Richard, Shane, Andrew, Ben, Anthony, and Noah), 2 granddaughters (Leslie and Maria) and 1 great granddaughter (Cora). She strongly encouraged each of her grandchildren to attend higher education and assured financial support was available to allow them to accomplish this goal. Due to declining health, she moved from Pensacola, FL to live with her daughter, Michelle, and her family in 2013.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Norma Helena Jay-Pang and her father, Lau Kei Pong.

Survivors include her sons, Harley Anthony Williams (Karen) of Conyers, GA and Richard Duane Williams (Tammy) of Birmingham, AL; her daughter, Michelle Renee Scott (Hal) of Conyers, GA; her grandchildren, Richard Duane Williams, II (Jessica) of Kansas City, MO, Leslie Diane Williams of Lafayette, LA, Anthony Shane Williams, Andrew Dalton Williams, Anthony Hunter Williams, Harold Benton Scott, Noah Patrick Scott, and Maria Elena Scott all from Conyers, GA; great grandchild, Cora Pippa Williams, (Richard & Jessica) of Kansas City, MO.

Visitation will be held 9:00am until a Funeral Cortege to depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 10:00am Friday, November 9, 2018 for a Committal Service at 10:30am at Barrancas National Cemetery with Pastor Gina Bryan of Ensley United Methodist Church officiating. Luncheon will follow service at Ensley United Methodist Church on Johnson Ave., Pensacola, FL.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Williams II, Shane Williams, Andrew Williams, Ben Scott, Anthony Williams, and Noah Scott.

Please provide any memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to local Hospice or Alzheimer foundations.
