Creighton Parker, a lifelong resident of Pensacola, FL, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 28, 2011. Creighton was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. His love of and talent for fishing was apparent at an early age. He fished numerous local tournaments with his first prize money coming in the Bud Light King Mackerel"Cobia Classic in 1991 with a crew of Judge Tom Johnson, Cam Johnson and Mickey Parker. He was active in the Southern Kingfish Association tournaments. As the captain of Team RAG-TAG, he won first place in the AJs King Mackerel Classic in 1998 and 2001. RAG-TAG placed second in the AJs Classic in 1999. Sponsored by Contender Boats and Yamaha Motors, Team RAG-TAG qualified for and fished the Yamaha Professional Kingfish Trail where they placed second in 2000 in Biloxi, MS, and were named National Champions of the Yamaha Professional Tour in 2001. RAG-TAG placed second and third in the king mackerel division of the Empire South Pass, Louisiana Tarpon Rodeo and finished first in the king mackerel division of the Outcast Family Fishing Rodeo in 2006 with Haily McLarnan. Creighton was named Angler of the Year in 2003 by the Pensacola News Journal. Creighton also had a great love of the family farm in Kentucky where he focused on cultivating the deer population. Creighton earned his BA in Marketing from the University of West Florida. Creighton was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde Parker, and his cousin, Virginia Garner, and grandparents, Virginia Tippins and Dr. Keener Tippins. Survivors include his parents, Mickey and Julie Tippins Parker; his sister and her husband, Jordan and Mark McDaniel, and his niece, Parker Virginia McDaniel; his grandmother, Mildred Creighton Parker; aunt and uncle, Courtney and John Garner; cousins Shaun (Tab) Garner, Michael (Susannah) Garner, Shaner Garner, Evelyn Garner; aunt and uncle, Randy and Susan Parker, cousins, Mason and Kyle Parker. The memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, March 7, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Randy Jackson and Rev. Frank Beall officiating. Burial will be in Whitmire Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jason Kirk, Chad Uzdevenes, Wes Harper, Cam Johnson, Quint Higdon, Geoff Persell, Rob Hill and Brian Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Garner, Shaun Garner, Aaron Conti, Derik Frioud, Britton Condon, Rob Bell, Will Anderson, Michael Franz and Creightons many fishing friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the RAG-TAG/Creighton Parker Memorial Fund Trust (4771 Bayou Blvd. #135, Pensacola, FL 32503-1906) which will be used to fund a substantial prize to the youngest angler to weigh a legal king mackerel in a local fishing tournament. This memorial prize will be perpetuated by his family. Creighton was a legend who will be greatly missed. HARPER-MORRIS MEMORIAL CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements.
