Curtis Combs Drenan Boone, 95, passed away in the afternoon on Sunday, July 23, 2023, after having had family and friends at his side.
Curtis worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Pensacola, FL until his retirement. He was the owner of Brunken Manufacturing Company before being sold in 2017-18. Curtis loved his family, his church, his country, and his Auburn University alumni.
Curtis was born in Randolph County, AL. As a child, his family moved to Lafayette, AL, where he was Baptized at First Baptist Church and graduated from Lafayette High School. After graduating high school Curtis enlisted into the United States Navy. He served in the Pacific during WWII. After being discharged from the US Navy, Curtis enrolled in Auburn University. He graduated with an accounting degree. Curtis started his accounting career at Monsanto Chemical Company. After obtaining his Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Curtis started his own CPA firm. During his career, Curtis bought Brunken Manufacturing Company. He sold his net business after his daughter CeCe passed away in 2017.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lavona Fuqua Boone; his daughter, Cornelia "CeCe" Curtis Boone; stepson, Lewis Cornelius "Neil" Reese; his parents, Curtis and Connie Combs Boone; his in-laws, Cornelius Gus and Esther Graham Fuqua; his sisters, Nancy Boone Rollins (Calvin) and Sara Boone Johnson (Edwin); as well as his nephew, Melvin Johnson.
Survivors include his two stepsons, Karl Guggenbiller and Kurt Guggenbiller; special friend, Sarah Katis; nieces, Ann Rollins Bryant (John), Connie Rollins Kellett (Johnny), Marilyn Johnson Wilson; nephews, Robert Calvin Rollins (Patty), David Alan Rollins, Jasen Johnson (Karen); as well as several first cousins from the Boone and Combs families.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00am Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, with Rev. Susan Sowers officiating. A reception will follow in the church reception hall. A Committal Service will follow at 1:00pm at Bayview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Auburn University Alumni in Curtis C. Boone's memory and love for the Auburn Tigers.
