Dale Nathaniel Whaley, 86, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 in Pensacola, FL and now is with our Lord and Savior.
Dale was born on October 18, 1933 in Toledo, OH, the only son, to Wendell & Ruth Whaley.
Dale served as a Medical Corpsman at Ft. Bliss in 1958, then worked for over 20 years for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway as a Switchman & Conductor before retiring in 1977 to move to Pensacola, FL and marry his beloved wife, Shirley (Bowne). They operated Whaley's Dry Dock & Tavern from 1978-81. Dale began his final career as Head of Maintenance on NAS Pensacola where he retired (again) in 2002.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Ruth; sisters, Betty & Jean and his beloved wife of 37 years, Shirley and her son, Robbie Behm.
Dale is survived by his two sons, Dennis Whaley Sr. (Lynn) of Sharpsburg, GA and Ronald Whaley of Pensacola, FL; two grandchildren, Dennis Whaley, Jr. (Teresa) & Lisa Danyluk (Robert) of Atlanta, GA; three great grandchildren and his sister, Nancy Shadix (Charles) of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by Shirley's children, Don Petre (Lillian) of Algonac, MI, Lauren Petre, Douglas Petre & Nancy Petre-Rodriguez of Pensacola, FL, which adds 6 more grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren to honor his memory.
Graveside services will be Monday, February 3, 2020 at 2:30 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery with the procession leaving from Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 2:00 pm. A Celebration of Dale's Life will follow at Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government Street, Pensacola, FL, 32502.
The family wishes to thank Brian Morris of Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel and Emerald Coast Hospice for the excellent care given to our Dad.
