IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Danice Chavis
Sanchez
December 2, 1935 – February 3, 2021
Danice Chavis Sanchez, of Pensacola, Florida, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021, from a combination of congestive heart failure and lung cancer. Danice was born on December 2nd, 1935, in Pensacola, Florida to Kenneth and Eva Chavis. Danice is preceded in death by her husband, Philip Joseph Sanchez III, her son, Philip Joseph Sanchez IV, and her grandson, Matthew James Raymond.
Danice was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1953, where she performed as a cheerleader and majorette. In high school she was voted both best dressed and cutest in her class. After high school, Danice attended Pensacola Junior College. During that time, Danice met the love of her life, Philip Joseph Sanchez III, through one of his sisters. Danice married Phil in 1955 and went on to raise seven wonderful children.
Danice and her family moved to Monroeville, Alabama in 1978 where Danice and her late husband purchased a boutique gift shop, Ernestine's. Danice hand sewed her children's prom dresses and tuxedos. She eventually decided to transition her hobby into a career by renaming "Ernestine's" to "Danice's Bridal Shop." Danice provided top quality prom and bridal dresses, tuxedo rental, and fitting services to the Monroeville community until retiring in 2010.
After retirement, Danice decided to move back to her beloved hometown, Pensacola, Florida where she was well cared for and visited by family. Her favorite memories were always of summers on Pensacola Beach with her children.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Kenneth Sanchez of Navarre, Florida; Philis Danice (Prissy) Sanchez Payne of Pensacola, Florida; Bo Sanchez and his spouse Abby Greene Sanchez of Longwood, Florida; Richard Quina Sanchez and his spouse Sarah Johnson Sanchez of Pensacola, Florida; Patricia Daune Sanchez Bailey and her spouse James Allen Bailey of Monroeville, Alabama; Robert O'Donovan (Roby) Sanchez and his spouse Christy Salter Sanchez of LaGrange, Georgia; eighteen grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Danice is also survived by her beloved dog, Sophie.
Danice was a strong, caring, and honest woman, who lived a life full of love and hard work. She was most proud of her children and the kind, good, and thoughtful adults they have grown to be. She will never be forgotten and will be missed by all who knew her. We are glad you are no longer in pain, and that you have reunited with the love of your life and your eldest son.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the family will be holding private services with live streaming available.
